Nestled atop a lush hillside, restaurant Cafetal Buenavista Las Terrazas blends authenticity, history, and the Cuban way of life. Set within the former master house of a 19th-century coffee plantation, it invites travelers to savor generous local cuisine in a timeless setting. As the wind caresses the old stone walls and the aromas of traditional dishes drift from the kitchen, visitors find themselves enveloped in the peaceful and refined atmosphere of this singular place, where each meal becomes a memorable experience.

A restaurant of distinction among coffee heritage ruins

Perched on the verdant heights of Sierra del Rosario, in Las Terrazas (Artemisa province), restaurant Cafetal Buenavista offers a culinary experience steeped in history and breathtaking landscapes. Installed within a former master house built in 1801 by French refugees fleeing Haiti, this unique setting occupies the restored heart of Cuba's oldest coffee plantation.

Once thriving, the estate was a hub of activity: an immense tajona (stone mill) extracted coffee beans from their husks, while drying terraces and slave quarters punctuated the rhythms of the hacienda. The granary stored beans before their transport by mule to the port of Mariel. Today, these moving vestiges remain, and it is within this history-laden atmosphere that the site has been transformed. The granary of the main house, now converted into a restaurant, commands a spectacular panoramic view over the surrounding valley.

Just 1.5 km from Puerta de las Delicias, Cafetal Buenavista stands as one of the region's cultural and gastronomic jewels, merging colonial heritage, sustainable tourism, and the pleasures of the table within a setting of striking beauty.

Flavorful dishes in a warm and welcoming setting

The Cafetal Buenavista restaurant offers far more than a simple meal: it is an immersion into Cuba's colonial history, to an era when French settlers dreamed of making the island a coffee powerhouse. Within this rustic building, typical of old haciendas, visitors now dine surrounded by remnants of the plantation: the imposing tajona, the drying areas, and the former quarters of enslaved workers.

The space blends rustic ambiance, verdant nature, birdsong, and panoramic views of the hills, creating a peaceful and authentic setting. The restaurant features two areas: an indoor dining room and a shaded terrace, where guests can enjoy traditional Creole cuisine prepared with local ingredients. The ropa vieja is renowned here, as are the garlic shrimp, served with genuine warmth and hospitality. In the patio-garden, poultry roam freely between tables, adding to the site's rural charm.

Appreciated for the quality of its meals, the kindness of its staff, and the beauty of its surroundings, this restaurant is an essential stop for anyone seeking to combine culinary pleasure, living history, and Cuba's natural heritage.
